Why do I need a certificate of certification?

Smoke Alarm, Carbon Monoxide Alarm, and Portable Fire Extinguisher Compliance (CSACMAPFEC) Uniform Fire Code N.J.A.C 5:70-2.3 Certificate of smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and portable fire extinguisher compliance Before any-one-and two-family or attached single family structure is sold, leased, or otherwise made subject to a change of occupancy for residential purposes, the owner shall obtain a certificate of smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and portable fire extinguisher compliance CSACMAPFEC, evidencing compliance with 5:70-4.19, from the appropriate enforcing agency. The enforcing agency, unless it is otherwise required to inspect the structure under a property maintenance or other municipal code, may accept, in lieu of inspection, a certification that one or more smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, as applicable, have been installed and tested in accordance with 5:70-4.19. Such certification shall be upon forms provided by the enforcing agency.

So,

N.J.A.C 5:70-2.3 – is the law for Certificate of smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and portable fire extinguisher compliance requirement and 5:70-4.19 is how to do it.

It is my advice to check the local ordinances or call the Local Fire Official because some ordinances require 10 year battery alarms inside of sleeping rooms. Some want 3-inch house numbers and some want 4-inch etc. You can look these requirements up however a simple phone call now can make you successful later.
